HOW TO MEASURE FOR A BRIDLE

Key Measurements (in inches): Use a soft measure tape for the best results
#1 Bit to Bit (Crown/Cheek Pieces): Place the tape measure at the corner of the horse's mouth, run it up the side of the face, over the poll (behind the ears), and down to the opposite side and corner of the mouth.
#2 Browband: Measure from where the browband sits on one side, just below the ears around the forehead to the same spot on the other side. Add 1-2 inches for comfort.
#3 Noseband: measure around the nose starting a just below the cheek bones, you should be able to put 2 fingers between the horse and the tape measure for comfort
#4 Throat Latch: Starting a the base of one ear measure around the throat to the other ear allowing room for a few fingers to fit for comfort.
Average Headstall Sizes (Reference):
-
Cob/Small/Arab: 38" - 41" full crown, 15" browband.
-
Regular Horse: 41" - 44" full crown, 16-17" browband.

*It is recommended to measure an existing, well-fitting headstall from end to end (where the bit attaches) for the most accurate size.
